In 2014, GVHP worked with Putnam County Charter School System to create a program for advanced students at Putnam County High School. They are currently developing narratives of several key counties, including Athens-Clarke, Fulton, Jackson, McIntosh, Oconee, Walton and Putnam, where the struggles and triumphs of the past 280 years continue to resonate, reminding us of the complex, beautiful, and strong roots that make up 21st century Georgia.
Monroe Country Day School joined the GA Virtual History Project at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year. Dr. Christopher Lawton has visited and lectured the class on GA history. The class has studied the cotton industry in Walton County and the Cobb family. They have had the opportunity to read letters written in the 1850s written by the Cobb family from their family country plantation in Walton County.
The class has also visited and studied Putnam County history. In return the MCDS class hosted Putnam County students in Walton County and shared Walton County history with their students.
